100Pedals CEO and Executive Director, Dave Cooke announced its collaboration with Transforming Youth Recovery for the upcoming Empowerment Ride 2016 which begins in Santa Monica, CA on July 30, 2016.
The Empowerment Ride 2016 is a 3600 mile cross country cycling ministry from LA to NYC. The mission of the Empowerment Ride is to bring healing to families suffering from the addiction of a loved while moving the addiction conversation out into the open.
The Empowerment Ride begins July 30, 2016 in Santa Monica, CA and ends in NYC on October 2, 2016 with key events scheduled at stops in Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Tulsa, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and New York City. 100Pedals Executive Director and Chief Cyclist, Dave Cooke, will be riding his bicycle all 3600 miles of the route and is inviting cyclists to join him on all or part of the trip.
100Pedals will be making presentations at local TYR College Chapters along the route. According to Dave Cooke, “Transforming Youth Recovery College Chapters is a perfect partner for this cycling mission. We see these events as a special opportunity to offer inspiration to those in recovery, provide encouragement to their families, while celebrating the positive transitions being made to by these students to enjoy life, embrace adventure, and embrace hope on their journey.”
Transforming Youth Recovery (TYR) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit that support educators, parents, and community members in helping students in recovery thrive in the fullness of everyday life. Since 2013 they have awarded over 100 grants to help colleges and universities across the nation start recovery programs on their campuses. These programs help students recovering from addiction to meet like-minded peers and have a great college experience while they get the support they need to thrive in the fullness of the college experience.
100Pedals is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides educational programs in the form of workshops and presentations to schools, churches, and other parent and family organizations for the purposes of awareness and support in the area of drug and alcohol addiction. Since 2011, 100Pedals has been inspiring and encouraging parents and families dealing with the addiction of a loved on, while bringing awareness and advocacy to the issues of addiction in our communities.
