When I googled hope, the definition that showed up at the top of the page defined Hope as “grounds for believing that something good may happen.” Confident hope would seem to reflect a higher expectation or belief in such an outcome.
When faced with our greatest difficulties, hope can often be all we have left to hang on to. Depending on the struggle, losing hope can become something we fear; because we know once this happens, all is lost.
Confident hope impresses on me that in whom and how we place our Hope is greater and stronger than hanging on. It offers us encouragement to trust in our Father and His plan with confidence that he knows what he is doing. And, it reminds us that everything works according to God’s plan and timing, not ours.
There are no guarantees that life is going to turn out as we expect. However, there is a promise that everything will end up as God has defined it. It is with confident hope we embrace the truth that God’s heavenly plans are always greater than our earthly expectations as these things are revealed to us over time; and, we will discover his peace and his love through our fervent, diligent communication with Him.
Even if your difficulty, rejoice in confident hope – God has got it all figured out.
