Dave Cooke, CEO and Board Chair of 100Pedals, Inc., is riding his bicycle across the country to raise awareness of the issue of substance abuse and addiction in our families and communities.
This 60-day, 3600 mile cycling trip from Santa Monica, CA to New York, NY includes stops in nearly fifty cities, including special half-day community education events in: Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Tulsa, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and New York City.
“The Empowerment Ride 2016 embodies my commitment to 100Pedals’ ministry. It is a ministry of education, awareness, and love. The issue of substance abuse and addiction is growing; its impact on families and in our communities is significant. Change and healing begins when an educated and dedicated community recognize that something must be done to get ahead of this epidemic. Through this extended cycling trip, my mission is to bring communities together to increase awareness of the issue, offer education perspective to the problem, and offer love and hope to those struggling with the addiction of a loved one.”

Whenever possible, I will be making daily presentations to local treatment facility, parents’ support group, community organization, school, or church along the route. I will be sharing the 100Pedals story and offering perspectives and insights from my journey around the issue of substance abuse and addiction in our families.
I will also be participating in special half-day community education events with local non-profits and community leaders in each of the listed larger cities. These events will include a cycling event, music, food, and presentations that will both educate and inspire.
